Everything the Federal Reserve owns, added up every Wednesday since 2002 — the level in dollars, how much it added or removed over the last 12 weeks, and bitcoin over the same 12 weeks on its own view.
$6.75T total assets on Oct-21 2026, the last Wednesday in this build · 12-week change: +$15B added, read from a public record, published by askthetape.com.
Every Thursday the Federal Reserve publishes its weekly balance sheet, the H.4.1 statement, and one line of it is the total of everything the Fed owns — Treasury bonds, mortgage-backed securities, loans and the rest — as of the Wednesday before. On Oct-21 2026 that total was $6.75T ($6,753,604 million). Over the 12 weeks before that, it added $15B: on Jul-29 2026 it stood at $6.74T. The second view draws that 12-week change for every Wednesday since 2002-12-18, so a quiet stretch and a sudden one look different at a glance. Mar-11 2020 is marked on the level: that Wednesday the total was $4.31T, and it had changed by +$175B over the 12 weeks before it. Over the 12 weeks after it the total changed by +$2,853B. The latest level is 56.6% above the Mar-11 2020 level. The biggest 12-week rise in the whole record is +$2,879B (to May-20 2020) and the biggest 12-week fall is −$361B (to Feb-04 2009); the record high of the level is $8.97T on Apr-13 2022. The third view is bitcoin's own move over the same 12 weeks, in per cent, measured from the same Wednesdays. With «compare: BTC price» switched on, bitcoin's price is added in grey on a log scale of its own (behind the line views, in a strip under the bars); switch it off to read the Fed's series alone. This page draws the published series and its arithmetic, and nothing more.
| leg | FRED series WALCL — «Assets: Total Assets: Total Assets (Less Eliminations from Consolidation): Wednesday Level», millions of US dollars, not seasonally adjusted, 1,245 weekly points from 2002-12-18, 0 gaps in the weekly grid. We keep our own copy (data/own/fed_walcl_weekly.csv): a new Wednesday is added, a revision FRED makes to an existing Wednesday replaces that value, and a week the source stops returning stays in our copy. The newest value entered our copy at 2026-10-23T00:32Z. Bitcoin is our own Bitstamp daily-close leg and rides the standard price overlay. |

| cadence | weekly. The value is dated Wednesday and published on Thursday at 16:30 in New York (20:30Z in summer, 21:30Z in winter); our copy is refreshed at most every six hours, so a new point lands here by Friday morning UTC. Between two releases nothing on this page changes, and the freshness check allows 10 days before it calls the page stale. |
| the 12-week change | the level on a Wednesday minus the level exactly 12 weeks (84 days) earlier — both points taken from the series itself, never interpolated. 1,233 changes on this build; the latest, +$15B, runs from 2026-07-29 ($6.74T) to 2026-10-21 ($6.75T). |
| bitcoin over the same 12 weeks | the close on the same Wednesday against the close 84 days earlier, both from our daily close leg: 835 Wednesdays where both closes exist (bitcoin's daily leg starts 2010-07-17, so this view starts from there while the balance sheet reaches back to 2002-12-18). The two sides keep different clocks: bitcoin's close is the end of the Wednesday in UTC (20:00 in New York in summer, 19:00 in winter), while the Fed's figure is its Wednesday level on New York time, published on Thursday at 16:30 in New York. |
| Mar-11 2020 | the reference line and the dotted mark sit on the level of that Wednesday, $4.31T. The 12 weeks before it changed the total by +$175B; the 12 weeks after it by +$2,853B. The latest level is 56.6% above it. |
| thinner here | we do not own this number and cannot check it: it is the Federal Reserve's own statement, served by FRED. If the Board revises a week, our copy takes the revision; if a week disappears from the source, our copy keeps it, and the page does not hide which of the two happened — the fetch log names both. |
| credit | the series is FRED WALCL, served by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis; the number itself is the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (US), H.4.1 Factors Affecting Reserve Balances. Both are named because both made it. |
