Coinbase USD vs Binance USDT, the day's range · premium

Each day's high, mean and low of the gap between Coinbase's dollar price and Binance's USDT price, in basis points (hundredths of a percent), from our hourly rebuild since 2017. It is the US premium PLUS the tether peg, and this page says so with a number. The hour-by-hour tape is on the Tape plan: the 1h window, and every hour since 2017 in the max window.

−12.0 bp daily range since 2017 · daily high on Oct-25 2026, the last day in this build, measured and published by askthetape.com.

For everyone

Same coin, two prices, every hour: the Coinbase close against the Binance close. The catch worth knowing before you read the line: Coinbase quotes real dollars and Binance quotes USDT, so this gap is the US premium AND the tether peg added together. Measured against our own USDT/USD leg on the 100 days they overlap, the two move almost as one — correlation +0.97, and the swing is the same size (4.5 bp against 4.3 bp). On 2026-10-26 the raw gap was -15.3 bp and only -0.4 bp of it was left once the peg was taken out. Read it as a stress gauge on «dollars vs tether», not as proof Americans were paying up. We rebuilt it from both exchanges' hourly archives back to 2017 and keep it live; the hours themselves stay off the free site.

🩸 what this actually measuresthe Binance leg is priced in USDT, so the tether peg is inside every number on this page. Against our own kraken USDT/USD leg over 100 common days (2026-07-19 → 2026-10-26): correlation +0.97, slope 0.99, standard deviation 4.5 bp on the premium against 4.3 bp on the peg deviation itself — the same size. On 2026-10-26 that is -15.3 bp raw and -0.4 bp after subtracting the peg, i.e. the sign can flip. A dollar-clean series is NOT drawn here: our USDT/USD capture starts 2026-07-19 and covers 100 of the 3,356 days on this page. We have 100 days of overlapping peg history and do not extend that adjustment across the earlier years.
