Forced closes split by coin, not just by exchange: longs below the line, shorts above it, from the exchanges' own broadcasts.
$88M All coins · by exchange, every coin added · Binance on Oct-22 2026, the last day in this build, measured and published by askthetape.com.
The live liquidation page adds up everything the exchanges broadcast in a day. This one splits it by coin, which is usually the question you actually had: was that a bitcoin flush, or did the alts take it. We listen to Bybit, OKX, dYdX and Binance — each on the coins it broadcasts, which is 21 on Bybit and OKX and only 3 on dYdX — and keep longs and shorts apart — longs wiped out hang below the line, shorts above it. Our own liquidation feeds in the sums: Binance, Bybit, OKX, Gate, Aster, Lighter, Bitget, HTX, Deribit, Kraken Futures, Hyperliquid, dYdX. Observed source-reported USD-equivalent; stablecoin quotes at par. Gate is in the sums from Oct 8 2026 11:13Z (exchange fill sizes); its earlier rows are a position-size notional proxy, shown apart. Gate size sign is independently supported for BTC_USDT and extrapolated to other contracts; inverse amounts use a fallback. Lighter side labels are source-reported; trade IDs since Oct 7 2026 22:43Z carry the side flag, checked equal to the label. dYdX reuses our earlier captured events. Hyperliquid uses labelled liquidation fills, a lower bound (empty hour ≠ zero; daily export batch). Bitget pushes only the largest long and short per pair per second. HTX is polled on its first 150 USDT contracts. Deribit arrives about 3 hours late from its trade history. The Kraken Futures side assumes the liquidation engine is the taker. The historical Bitfinex view is a base-price position notional proxy, not execution value, and is excluded from sums. First observed and current periods are partial and drawn hollow. Hourly and daily sums contain only the named sources available at that resolution and time. Execution sums exclude Gate rows before Oct 8 2026 11:13Z and Bitfinex; BTC/ETH/other exclude Hyperliquid because the daily carrier lacks coin labels.

| policy | 🩸 Binance is missing from 2026-04-28 to 2026-08-05 inclusive (100 days): the old feed (4 coins) stopped and a DIFFERENT stream (21 coins) starts in August — a change of universe, not a resumed feed, so the Binance line BREAKS across that stretch instead of being drawn through it — and the by-exchange view is where that gap is visible. A per-coin total over those days is short by one exchange. · export: whole history |
| 🩸 gaps, counted not claimed | every leg's calendar is walked in the build and each missing day is printed, single days included: binance 2026-04-24; bybit 2026-05-01 … 2026-05-06 (6 days); dydx 2026-04-25, 2026-05-01 … 2026-05-06 (6 days), 2026-07-25, 2026-07-30, 2026-08-08, 2026-08-13, 2026-08-15 … 2026-08-16 (2 days), 2026-09-12, 2026-09-26, 2026-10-03, 2026-10-06; okx 2026-05-01 … 2026-05-06 (6 days). That is 30 missing exchange-days in all, and none of them is drawn across. |
| note | a broadcast is a lower bound: exchanges throttle these streams, and Binance's sends at most one order per second per symbol |
| gaps | measured on this leg, not assumed: the line has no point on 2026-04-25 … 2026-04-25 (1 day) on dYdX; 2026-05-01 … 2026-05-06 (6 days); 2026-07-25 … 2026-07-25 (1 day) on dYdX — it BREAKS there and nothing is drawn across it · the same week is missing from every exchange-tape leg we keep (order books, funding ticks, basis, liquidations), so it is one collector outage, not a property of this market |
| hourly window | prod liquidation_events, hourly sum per coin (event stream) · since 2026-03-31 09:00Z by data, 4,757 hours with data inside a 4,957-hour span → 2026-10-23 21:00Z (the Tape and Desk windows draw up to 400 days of that, never more than we hold) · captured 2026-10-23T21:21:56Z |
| 🩸 longs against shorts over a window · [22.09 VIEWS1] | the view adds every coin of the capture for each UTC day and keeps the two sides apart. The window sums count CLOSED days only: 2026-09-23 → 2026-10-22 for the 30-day window and 2026-08-24 → 2026-10-22 for the 60-day one, both ending on the last closed day of this build — the running day is not on this view at all (its bars are closed days only) and enters neither sum. 30 days: longs $2.50B, shorts $1.18B (longs 67.9055 % of the dollars). 60 days: longs $4.37B, shorts $3.33B (longs 56.7154 %). THE BASE is the same basket of 21 coins: every closed day since 2026-06-07, the first day the capture heard all of them, 2026-06-07 → 2026-10-22, 138 days — longs $6.27B, shorts $6.69B (longs 48.3488 %), median day $50M, longs outweighed shorts on 73 of 138 days. The whole tape 2026-03-31 → 2026-10-22 (200 days) mixes baskets — 3 coins from Mar-31 2026, 4 from Apr-11 and 21 from Jun-07 — and reads longs 50.3391 % with 111 of 200 days long-heavy; it is kept here for the record and is not a base. The coin in the headline is the one with the largest SHARE of the window's dollars, and the share is printed beside it; the 30-day order is BTC 40.97 % · ETH 39.65 % · SOL 9.04 % · HYPE 1.69 % · UNI 1.36 % · AVAX 0.87 %. Sums are computed at full precision from the event table and rounded once, when printed. |
| 🩸 what this window is NOT · [22.09 VIEWS1] | Forced closes as the EXCHANGES broadcast them: Bybit, OKX, Binance and dYdX. A broadcast is a LOWER BOUND (the venues throttle these streams) and the basket grew — 3 coins from Mar-31 2026, 4 from Apr-11 and 21 from Jun-07 — while Binance is missing from Apr-28 to Aug-05 2026. Bybit and OKX report on every captured day; dYdX only on BTC, ETH and SOL, from Apr-18 2026; the capture itself has no rows from May-01 to May-06 2026; venues we do not listen to are not in it at all. Why the two windows disagree about the long share (67.9 % against 56.7 %): the 30 days the 60-day window adds, Aug-24 2026 → Sep-22 2026, read longs only 46.5 %, and they hold the biggest streak of days in a row on which shorts outweighed longs — Sep-21 2026 → Sep-21 2026, 1 day, $403M of shorts against $38M of longs. Without those 1 day the 60-day window reads longs 59.6 %. Binance's silence is not the reason: 0 days of the 60 have no Binance at all, but with Binance taken out of both windows they still read 68.3 % and 56.2 %. The verdict on the frame is a placebo, not a proof: 20,000 times, as many days as a window has were drawn at random from the 138 base days and their dollar share of longs read the same way — the 30-day window sits at two-sided p = 0.035 (more longs than usual), the 60-day window at p = 0.262 (within the usual range). Drawing single days ignores that liquidation days come in clusters, which makes a window look unusual MORE easily, not less. With Binance taken out of every day, the 30-day window reads longs 68.3 % and the base 48.6 %. Nothing here is a claim about positioning: a liquidation is a closed bet, not an open one. |
