Stock bubbles: what was closed out on Bybit

Bybit's stock and ETF contracts as bubbles: size = money in open bets, colour = the price move, as of 23:45Z Oct-22 · last snapshot of the UTC day. Over the 24 hours before it, $5.0M of positions were closed, counted from each contract's high: closed by choice or by force — not a liquidation count (liquidations are on /m/bybit-liquidations/).

$5.0M closed on 119 of 278 stock and ETF contracts · net +$23.6M: more opened than closed · as of 23:45Z Oct-22 · last snapshot of the UTC day · closed by choice or by force — not a liquidation count: /m/bybit-liquidations/, Oct-22 2026, measured and published by askthetape.com.

For everyone

A stock perpetual on Bybit is a bet on a share's price, settled in USDT. Here the stock and ETF contracts on Bybit's board — 278 of them on Oct-22, 221 stocks and 57 ETFs — are bubbles: the bigger the bubble, the more money sits in open bets on it; green means the price rose over the chosen window, red means it fell, and the stronger the colour, the bigger the move. «Wiped out» counts positions that closed: for each contract we take the most contracts held in the window, subtract what was held at the last snapshot, and value the difference at that snapshot's price, so a falling price alone does not count. Those positions were closed by choice or by force — not a liquidation count: forced closes on the same contracts are counted on /m/bybit-liquidations/. When open interest falls, a long and a short leave together: a closed long is a sale and a closed short is a purchase, so the drop has no direction. Bybit kept adding stock contracts through the summer (the board: 54 contracts on Jun-11, 278 on Oct-22), so the older days in the charts sum a smaller board. Prices and open interest are our own last snapshot of the UTC day (23:45Z Oct-22), not Bybit's daily candle.

For the pro

legown daily panel of Bybit's linear contracts (15-minute capture, last snapshot of the UTC day) — 23:45Z Oct-22; the carrier of /m/bybit-panel/; 6 stock and fund books Bybit's feed is read apart for (MSTR, QQQ, NVDA, TSLA, SPY, COIN) come from our 5-minute capture of those tickers, last snapshot of the UTC day
wiped outper contract: C = open interest in USD ÷ last price (contracts, one side); wiped = max(0, the highest C at a daily snapshot in the window − C at the last snapshot) × the last snapshot's price; summed over the 278 contracts on the board at that snapshot. 24 hours: $5.0M from 119 contracts · 7 days: $21.1M · 30 days: $44.1M. A price move alone does not change it. The 7-day and 30-day figures run from each contract's highest snapshot, so they are not the sum of the daily bars: a contract that closes and reopens inside the window counts once here and at each drop in the bars.
🩸 OI down ≠ net sellingopen interest falls when a long and a short close together: the long sells, the short buys back, so the drop carries no direction and it is not selling pressure. The same window's net at the snapshot price: $23.6M more opened than closed (24 hours) · $24.4M more opened than closed (7 days) · $95.5M more opened than closed (30 days), new listings counted as opened.
🩸 not a liquidation countclosed by choice or by force — not a liquidation count: forced closes on the same Bybit contracts are counted apart, on /m/bybit-liquidations/
pre-listing5 of the stock contracts are pre-listing books (Bybit's status PreLaunch): ANTHROPIC, OPENAI, OURA, MOONSHOT, POLYMARKET — $2.1M of open interest; they are drawn like the rest
Not on the page6 stock or ETF contracts on Bybit's list (instruments-info, labels stock and ETF) with no open interest at this snapshot in our capture: AXP, BA, CRML, CSTOCK, IBKR, MDTSTOCK
🩸 open interest: one side🩸 ONE SIDE (Bybit's own singleOpenInterest) EVERYWHERE — one convention across the whole site, not per page. Bybit and Hyperliquid count BOTH sides of every contract in their public field, so both are halved. Bybit: checked again on the live handles 2026-09-12, openInterest / singleOpenInterest = 2.000000 on all seven symbols probed (BTC, SOL, HYPE, UNI and the TradFi books XAUT, SPX, TSLA — the exchange's convention, not one market's). Hyperliquid reports two-sided open interest — its own note of 2026-09-23: «Two-sided OI is calculated as the sum of long and short positions» — and our own record of its positions agrees: on no market do the tracked longs reach much past half of the field. We halve it to one side, like the other venues. The correction runs over the WHOLE history — neither field has ever been one-sided, so there is no seam to date; until this correction, Hyperliquid was printed here at both sides. This page carries the same two-sided field, halved over its whole history.
size and colourBubble area = open interest · paler = smaller price move over the window, full colour at ±5/15/30 % · grey = not on the board 1, 7 or 30 days ago (24 hours: 3 · 7 days: 3 · 30 days: 24) · light grey = no price change. Area ∝ open interest of one side, USD, at the last snapshot; colour = change of the last price from the daily snapshot 1, 7 or 30 days earlier (if our capture missed that day for a contract, the snapshot before it), from 30 % fill for the smallest move to full colour, so no bubble with a price is drawn empty
what the page is notBybit's own labels, stock and ETF only: 4 TradFi books that are currencies or commodities (BZ, EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY) stay on /m/bybit-panel/, and gold, silver and oil on /m/tradfi-perps/. Tickers are printed as Bybit lists them, without company names. Not the stock market itself — Bybit's contracts on it.
cadencedaily: the page quotes the last CLOSED UTC day (2026-10-22), as of 23:45Z Oct-22 · last snapshot of the UTC day, never the running one. «Close» on this page means that snapshot's last price and open interest, not Bybit's daily candle
